The Headteacher is Mr. Laurence McKell. Mr. McKell ensures that we implement the SEN Code of Practice (Part 4 – 1996 Education Act). The Code emphasizes the importance of involving children and parents in education and of effective multi-professional working to meet the needs of the child.
Laurence has been a Head and senior teacher in independent schools for twenty years. He sits on the Board of two schools and is the Chair of the Advisory Board of a third. He has been an ISI Inspector since 2006 and has a wealth of experience that he brings to Frederick Hugh House. His eldest daughter is on the autism spectrum and he knows and understands from a parent’s perspective the complexities and significance of special educational needs and child centred learning. Laurence holds degrees from the University of Glasgow and an M.Ed from the University of Leeds.
